There are lots of wagons that go off-road, including one from Mercedes-Benz. But the Volvo S60 Cross Country is the only jacked up sedan with protective body cladding.
Chinese joint venture company Qoros is soon going to change that with the 3 GT sedan that's about to be launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November and launch on the Chinese car market soon after that.
Just because it's semi-Chinese doesn't mean that this is a copycat product. In fact, the 3 GT is thoroughly committed to originality, and only the general idea is connected to the Volvo model mentioned above.
The body kit of the 3 GT was actually previewed by the 3 Q•LECTRIQ concept earlier this year. But nobody noticed. Besides raised suspension, the adventure-oriented sedan also sports dark plastic and silver trim typical of everything from a Sandero Stepway to an A4 allroad quattro.
Keen-eyed fans of the Qoros brand might also point out the changes to the headlights and grille, tinted windows and revised taillights. Some sweet touches can be seen inside as well. We especially like how the integrated dual exhaust tips into the back of the car and added only a discreet trunk lid spoiler in black.
The powertrains have not been officially confirmed yet, but there's a 99% chance of finding the 156 horsepower 1.6-liter turbo under the hood, as with all the other Qoros cars since 2013.
Although it's supposed to be an adventure sedan, it will only have a front-wheel drive system at its launch. The chances of AWD being offered later on are pretty slim.
But Qoros is fully committed to providing (Chinese) customers with what they want. Next up, the 3 model range will include a crossover wagon, a small one. It's been spied while testing and while we cannot show you the photos, let's just say the trunk is similar to the previous Audi A3 Sportback, so not that big.
