In the world of performance tuners there’s no such thing as too much power. When BMW and its Motorsport division set out to create the new M3 and M4 models, they knew that a balance had to be reached in order to make the cars worthy of their M badges. That’s because M cars are known for being both able track beasts and comfy daily drivers.
Now in this regard, they had to make the 3-liter biturbo inline 6-cylinder plant both powerful and easy to drive. To do that the engineers stopped its output at 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque even though they knew that better numbers were possible.
In turn, tuners quickly jumped at the occasion to create more power out of the S55 mill. There are a number of ways to do such things to be honest, including but not limited to ECU remapping, installing new exhausts and changing engine parts altogether.
At the moment, the last resort is also the hardest to employ because tuners haven’t made the parts yet. Most companies are working on them as we speak and today we’re introducing the Pure Turbo snails that will give you a lot more power.
The guys have been working on their own turbochargers and it would seem like they were successful. Their design includes:
The thing is, even more power is attainable if a proper exhaust is installed (they tested the car on the stock one with cats) along with a revised air intake. Should we also mention that they intend on installing a meth system as well?
They don’t have an official price tag for the kit for now as they haven’t finished testing its reliability but things are looking good at the moment. As soon as they finish, we’ll let you know exactly how much you have to pay for them. The ballpark is around $5,000 which is amazing considering the power increases and the fact that for that kind of money you can get a decent exhaust that will add around 30 HP at max to the output.
