One British journalist famously said the Porsche 918 Spyder is part of a very public gestation and we really couldn’t agree more with him. Like an engineers wet dream, the car has been constantly shown in various pre-production forms, its performance numbers swelling up to keep an even balance with the McLaren P1.
The gestation of the 918 has also involved plenty of spy videos coming our way from Stuttgart spotter DrGumoLunatic, most of which showed pre-production cars with 911 taillights. But this clip appears to be the real deal, a 310 series car, which is the codename for normal version without the Weissach package.
As you can see, the car is wearing green brake calipers, a symbol of Porsche’s new love of hybrid technology. The taillights are also production units now, hollow in the middle for maximum visual impact.
Even standing still, the 918 manages to send a chill down your spine because you know it’s expensive and you know it has technology no other road car has.
