The world premiere of the new Porsche 911 Hybrid is scheduled for a live broadcast on May 28, 2024, and the 2025MY is way faster on the Nurburgring. Most likely, it will also bring a nip and tuck of the entire series with it.
The Stuttgart-based automaker is currently pretty secretive about the beginning of its new hybrid era for the 911 series. However, based on past electrified models like the PHEVs and Taycan all-electric, it won't disappoint. Porsche is ready to push the iconic 911 into the modern era, with the first roadgoing 911 equipped with a hybrid powertrain.

Don't expect wonders, though, as it might feature Carrera S levels of power rather than bonkers 911 Turbo or GT3 performance. However, it won't be a slouch, either. According to the company, the work is nearly done following an extensive development program amassing over three million road miles and countless spied photoshoots, and the 911 Hybrid is now "in the starting blocks." It will be a "performance-focused hybrid drive," by the way, and most likely, it won't be a plug-in hybrid setup.

"For the first time in our icon's 61-year history, we are installing a hybrid drive system in a roadgoing 911. This innovative performance hybrid makes the 911 even more dynamic," says Frank Moser, Vice President for the 718 and 911 model lines. "We left nothing to chance during development and tested the new 911 under all sorts of conditions all over the world. From the freezing cold to scorching heat, as was the case during the final stages of testing in Dubai. All in all, our engineers and test drivers clocked up more than five million kilometers of development driving."

Naturally, a lot of surface area was also covered on the Green Hell – the Nürburgring Nordschleife – and the testing and tuning procedures also included one special moment. More precisely, Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister was also present on the premises during the course of performance testing, and he clocked 7:16.934 lap of the circuit – some 8.7 seconds faster than the corresponding version of the predecessor model.

This is also the reason why we are seeing two cars instead of one in the camouflaged teaser shots – one is the regular 911 Hybrid (this is an unofficial moniker), and the other features the aero kit with a fixed rear wing "that has been available as an option for several model generations now, and which provides increased downforce at high speeds." Intrepid publications quickly searched the database of Nordschleife 911 laps and found that the slower time equates to the 992-generation Carrera S, which did it in 7:25 minutes sometime in 2020. As such, let us prepare for the May 28 reveal of the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S with the first-ever hybrid performance powertrain.
