Porsche’s 50th anniversary at Silverstone last week set a new world record by gathering no less than 1,208 911 models on the famed race track.
The parade was joined by a number of former Porsche drivers, including Derek Bell and Richard Attwood, and included the most famous 911s, including Carrera, RS, RSR, GT, Speedster, Targa, and Turbo models. Also, the event raised funds for the “Hope for Tomorrow” cancer charity.
“It’s because of the 911 that Porsche had the financial resources to go racing nd create the history of the 917, 956, 962 and all the wins that we had around the world with all my fabulous team-mates. Porsche did a heck of a lot for me so to be here in this parade driving around my home track Silverstone is a great honour,” said former Porsche racing driver Derek Bell.
Porsche will celebrate 50 year of 911 throughout the year, including an official exhibit at the Porsche Museum that started on June 4 and will continue until September 29.
