It looks like this part of the Nurburgring season has already earned itself a special label. So after we recently brought you what might just be the most extreme Ring crash save of the year, we can now talk about the Green Hell accidents with the most spectacular air time action. Spoiler alert: the accident involves a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
The final particle is of special importance, since the accident took place during a VLN championship race.
We can see the Porsche racecar entering the frame sideways - it looks like the driver lost the rear end and clipped a part of the car with the front end, which caused the initial roll.
From this point on, it's all a matter of chance, with the car rolling around ten times before landing on its roof - the 911 GT3 Cup stopped on the grass outside the circuit.
The extreme nature of the crash is actually a bit deceiving, since that much movement is obviously preferable to a single, hard impact, since it helps dissipate the energy.
US racing driver John Shoffner of J2 Racing was behind the wheel and it seems that the driver walked away without any serious injuries. In fact, a YouTuber claiming to be John took to the comments section of the video depicting the crash to brings us an update. And given the intensity of the cars, the emotional nature of the comment doesn't surprise us.
"I'm fine, not a scratch, but my face filled with blood from the spins, they were horrific. Everybody - buy a Porsche!!" the commenter states.
In fact, if we check out the passenger compartment of the car, we'll notice it held its shape well, so we can only applaud the engineers.
P.S.: Here's to hoping the kind of shenanigans we mentioned in the intro stop here
