We’ve all dealt with pigeons causing unpleasant episodes that have to do with our cars. But having to wash your vehicle due to a bird’s visit is one thing and being involved in a three-way crash that started with a pigeon crossing the street is another thing.
Such an accident has recently taken place in Russia, with the dash cam culture being there to bring us the news.
As we’ve said, this group fender bender starts with a pigeon crossing the road. You can feel something will go wrong from the first moments of the video, as the pigeon starts walking towards the road and a parked Renault Logan masks it.
The driver of a Ford Focus Sedan does what many of us would, bringing his car to a halt so that he doesn’t run the bird over. Nevertheless, the mirrors were probably left unchecked during this maneuver, as a Renault Clio approaches quickly from behind.
Sure, the Renault driver is the one to blame, as in such cases - you don’t even need to check the legislation, keeping your distance from the vehicle in front of you is a common sense rule, albeit one many drivers disregard.
The Clio driver tries to swerve past the Ford, but still ends up scratching it on the side. Even so, the damage is more limited compared to a situation that would’ve seen the Renault rear-ending the Ford.
Unfortunately, a rear-end crash is exactly what follows, as a second driver coming from behind also fails to maintain a safe distance from the car in front. The car in question, which seems to be a Daewoo Nexia / Cielo, hits the Ford in a much more violent manner than the Renault.
The clip doesn’t show us the post-crash discussion between the three drivers, but we can imagine things didn’t go as peacefully as the original intention of the Ford driver to save a pigeon.
