Kumho Tyres brought to our attention the fact that the Peugeot RCZ 2.0 HDi FAP is the most successful diesel-powered race car in the VLN championship, with the Kumho-shod vehicle’s last feat being a third successive podium in last weekend’s Nurburgring race.
With Bohrer, Caillet and Nett behind the wheel, the RCZ managed to finish second in its class, with the second car, which was driven by Cochet, Premat, Perez and Ayari, coming fourth.
“Both cars again ran without any problems, requiring no work from our pit crew apart from refuelling and driver changes.” Caillet, who was also enthusiastic, commented: “We have increased the track and camber which, in combination with the Kumho tyres, has gained us a few valuable seconds per lap.” Bohrer achieved the fastest qualifying time of the team, circulating the white RCZ in 9:53.677 minutes.
In addition to that, Le Mans LMP1 star Bruce Jouanny will join Premat and Cochet in the RCZ for the 39th Nurburgring 24 Hour race, which is scheduled to take place on June 23-26. The driver will be a good friend to his teammates and will take part in rounds four and five of the VLN championship in order to qualify for the 24 Hour race.
“Bearing in mind their excellent results to date and their strong driver line-up, the RCZ team have given themselves an excellent chance of achieving their goals in the 24 Hour race. We are very much looking forward to the event,” said Kumho’s European Motorsport Manager, Steve Thompson.
