Spaniard Dani Pedrosa is afraid that the wrong configuration his team picked on the Friday practice might influence his performance in the Japanese Grand Prix. Pedrosa admitted Honda took the wrong decision on Friday when setting up the motorcycle and hinted that due to this matter, his results on the Motegi results might pretty well disappoint his fans.
But things can get even worse as the Saturday practice session is likely to take place in wet conditions, according to the latest weather forecasts. Due to this matter, the Friday testing session could remain Pedrosa's only practice stage in dry conditions.
"The problem was that we made totally the wrong setting," Pedrosa said. "I couldn't make good laptimes, so it was a shame because tomorrow it will be raining."
"If the race is in dry conditions, I think today we make the wrong decision."
Speaking about the wrist injury, Pedrosa admitted he's feeling better on his motorcycle in Japan than on the Losail circuit in Qatar, pointing that the first minutes of the race are usually the most difficult, especially due to the fact that he's still feeling a bit of pain before warming up.
"Today I felt a little bit better than in Qatar," he said. "Still in the beginning it's very difficult, but after some minutes I get a little bit more movement, so this is good. I have to sit better on the machine."
Both Dani Pedrosa and teammate Andrea Dovizioso finished the Friday practice sessions well behind leader Valentino Rossi. While Dovizioso managed to snatch the seventh place, Pedrosa was even slower, finishing the session in eleventh place.
