You want have a car that doesn’t compromise on style and turns heads but can carry a baby camel, you and four of your best wives and all the skiing equipment on the roof? You cheeky devil you!
Luckily, Mercedes has just what you need, and it’s called the CLS Shooting Brake. Mercedes says that it’s "quite clearly a coupé, but with five doors and a roof which continues through to the rear."
All the camel will know is hat it has a cavernous boot with 590 liters of space with the rear seats in their position or if you only have one wife 1,550 liters of space with the seats down.
The back seats of the CLS Shooting Brake are more practical than on the CLS four-door coupe. There’s seating for three people in the back, not two, and the bench can be folded from the boot.
The engine range for this camel carrier will include four normal powertrains in Europe, all fitted to a 7-speed 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission with an ECO start/stop.
The diesel range starts with the 204 PS (201 hp) CLS 250 CDi and continues with the CLS 350 CDI with 265 PS (261 hp). The petrols are the 3.5-liter V6 model, the CLS 350 with 306 PS (302 hp), and the CLS 500 with a 4.7-liter V8 developing 408 PS (402 hp). There’s also an inane AMG with a 5.5-liter if you want to trains your camel into recognizing you as its master.
Jokes aside, this is a wonderful estate, even if we have to call it a shooting brake. Too bad it’s not going to be sold in the US.
