With South Korean cars getting more and more people to buy them, it was only a matter of time until a supercar "made in Korea" became available. Called Spirra, the supercar is manufactured by Oullim Motors.
Based (somewhat) on the PS-II prototype presented some nine years ago, the Spirra is powered by a turbocharged V6 engine with "V8 levels of power." Bluntly put, the engine is a Hyundai-sourced 2.7l V6, which will be offered in no less than four configurations (very unusual for a supercar) and the same number of power levels: V6 DOHC (175 cp), V6 DOHC (Small Turbo Charged (330 hp), V6 DOHC (Big Turbo Charged (between 400 and 420 hp) and V6 DOHC( Twin Turbo Charged (between 450 and 500 hp).
Depending on the configuration you choose, the Spirra can reach speeds of 212 km/h (131 mph), 280 Km/h (173 mph), 305 Km/h (189 mph) and 310 Km/h (192 mph). Obviously, naught to sixty acceleration time differs as well, with the car reaching the threshold in 6.8, 4.8, 3.8 or 3.5 seconds respectively.
The body of the Spirra is a full carbonfiber body over a tubular spaceframe, turning it as lightweight as possible. What's really interesting is that the building of the Spirra is being done by hand...
"The Spirra is our first of many future generations of supercars. Therefore, our efforts are concentrated in ensuring that our standards meet the expectation of our clients who are eagerly awaiting to be among the first to sit behind the wheel," the manufacturer says in a release.
There's no word yet on what the price tag for the Spirra will be, but having so many engine configuration options will likely complicate matters for Oullim. As for the release date, the carmaker plans to debut production this summer, meaning the roads might see the Spirra in the fall at the earliest.
