Opel just announced the Zafira Tourer is now available with a more powerful 1.6-liter turbo engine, the 1.6 SIDI Turbo rated at 200 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The Rüsselsheim automaker even goes as far as to say this is now the most powerful compact monocab on offer.
While we'll hold off on agreeing with them, since PSA also puts the 1.6 THP 200 on its MPVs, we will agree that the 300 Nm of torque available (221 lb-ft) is the highest for a petrol engine.
Connected to a six-speed manual gearbox, the engine takes the Zafira from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph). Opel says to expect fuel efficiency figures of 7.0 L/100km (40 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 164 g/km.
