If you walked into a Plymouth dealership in 1969 to get a Road Runner, the choice was a bit harder, as the lineup now included three models. The parent company also offered a convertible alongside the coupe and the hardtop.
The coupe was the most affordable at $2,945, while the hardtop could be had for $3,083. Naturally, the convertible was the most expensive at $3,313 in the base configuration and $3,635 when ordered with the GTX package.

Sales went through the roof and doubled, and most buyers picked the 383 V8 offered as standard with 335 horsepower and a four-speed transmission.

However, Plymouth also offered more potent engines, starting with the 440 Super Commando, rated at 375 horsepower, and ending with the 440 Six-Pack with 390 horsepower. The icing on the cake was the Hemi with dual four-barrel carburetors and producing 425 horsepower.

The Road Runner in these photos left the factory with a 383 four-barrel unit under the hood, and the good news is that the same engine is still in charge of propelling the car today. The people at Chicago Car Club claim this is an all-original survivor, but you must know that the car was already resprayed approximately four years ago. The paint shows its age, and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to determine that this Road Runner's goal is to get a complete restoration.

The interior also exhibits some issues, including with the seats and the carpets.

The Road Runner suffers from the typical rust issues, with new floors required, and the garage will also offer a replacement windshield. The Air Grabber hood is complete, the original intake and carburetor are still around (despite being swapped), and the engine starts and runs (albeit it would use some attention).

This Road Runner spent its entire life with the same owner, who purchased it after returning from Vietnam. The garage says they have lots of documents, including the original bill of sale, the original title, window sticker, broadcast sheet, and other papers that'll go with the car. The odometer indicates 66K miles, but the true mileage is unknown.

A one-owner Road Runner that checks all the big boxes for a complete restoration is rare, and this example is unlikely to remain available for long. eBay's statistics indicate that over 150 people keep an eye on the listing, albeit it's unknown if anyone is involved in a potential deal.

The garage will let the car go for $34,200, but they also enabled the Make Offer button to leave the door open to negotiations. Buyers who want to see the car in person before submitting an offer can find it in Saugatuck, Michigan.
