The Summer Olympic Games in London represented the perfect opportunity for BMW to highlight their green ambitions for the future with a range of electric vehicles, including the C evolution scooter. But turn the clock back 40 years, and the games were being held in Munch, on BMW’s home turf.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Munich Olympics, BMW Group Olympic Ambassador Katarina Witt got to sample the brand new concept for electric mobility in London as a passenger on the production-based prototype of a powerful electric scooter.
“The BMW C evolution not only looks cool, but also features cutting-edge technology,” said Witt. “With this electric scooter, BMW is once again demonstrating its high levels of innovation. The BMW Group was involved in the marathon and walking races at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich with the BMW 1602 electric car. As such, today’s anniversary event sees the issue of environmentalism come full circle.”
Five C evolution scooters will be on test in London until August 12th. They are all powered by an electric motor producing 11 kW of power (15 HP) constantly , or 35 kW (47 PS) for short periods of time. The range is supposed to be 100 kilometers (62 miles). Charging can be done in as little as three hours from a charging station.
