Old-School Police Cruiser Drags Mopar, Corvettes, AMG, Mustang, and It's a Bust

It seems that BMP had enough action to last them for months as they keep circling back to fresh content from Bradenton while also keeping an eye on other proceeds like the 65-mph rolls at Pocono Raceway and the usual Test & Tune Day at home at Island Dragway.

On this curious occasion, a Bradenton blitz puts out a simple question – can an old-school police cruiser keep up with representatives from all Big Detroit Three? The simple answer is at the end of the video embedded below, of course. But first, let's talk about the protagonists.

The main gist of this feature is a 'Palmetto Police Cruiser' that looks like it has seen better pursuit days. However, even in 2024, it can still put up a fight – even against sports cars that are much younger. To put everything into the proper perspective, most likely, the first skirmish between the 'lawman' behind the wheel and a worthy adversary is against a white Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody.

The latter features a Whipple supercharger, as per the description, but its task to dominate the opposition narrowly falls short because the police cruiser teaches it a 10.97s versus 11.03s lesson. As it turns out, the old-school vehicle (is that a G-body fourth-generation Chevy Malibu or not?) had a few tricks up its sleeve and a penchant for lifting the front wheels in the air.

Secondly, a black C6 Chevy Corvette comes out to play on Hoosiers. Two things happen, though. For starters, although it performed the traditional pre-race burnout, the Corvette spun those rear tires way more than any Chevy fan would want to, whereas the police cruiser showed the crowd how it liked to start with two wheels (slightly) in the air.

This brawl appears to be part of bracket racing, though, as per the 11-second markers on the electronic scoreboards. In the end, the Corvette clocked 11.54s while the Palmetto police cruiser had an 11.56s elapsed time but was still declared the winner, most likely because it passed the finish line first.

This old-school pursuit vehicle likes the cool of the night, too, most likely because it can put up a light show – so the footage moves to later during the night when a Mercedes-AMG C 63 'Vert also comes out to fight it. It's still 11-second bracket racing, by the way, and again, the crime-fighting 'Palmetto' star was declared victorious even though it was slightly slower than its opponent (11.68s versus 11.49s).

The bust continued with the police cruiser taking on the final representative of the Big Detroit Three – a Ford Mustang GT. Same old, same old, we could say – as the driver of the cop car has excellent reaction times and easily takes control of the race while the Blue Oval's attempt to catch it is, again, futile. Last but not least, there was also a crimson C7 Chevy Corvette in attendance, but even this mighty sports car failed to beat the daring 'Palmetto' caretaker!
