Lately, I've seen more and more families adopting a mobile lifestyle. This shift to mobile living can be very enjoyable and fulfilling with the proper setup. Today, I'm discussing a family's tiny home on wheels, packed with everything they need to enjoy life on the road.
Meet the Price family: Megan, Landon, and their son, Liam. They live and travel in a converted International school bus measuring 40 feet (12 meters) in length. It sports a reliable (some people describe it as "unkillable") DT466 engine connected to a 60-gallon (227-liter) diesel tank. As usual, I'll begin the tour with the rig's exterior.

The most significant exterior modification is an 18-inch (46-centimeter) roof raise, something many bus dwellers opt for since it allows them to stand up straight inside the bus. This rig is finished all around in white paint complemented by brown wooden tones.

One of the upsides of using a bus for a camper conversion is the amount of exterior storage you'll have. On the driver's side of this unit, you'll discover a compartment holding the vehicle's starter batteries and a custom-built container housing two 15-lb. (7-kg) propane tanks.

Other notable exterior features on the passenger side are lights, side-view cameras, a 46-gallon (174-liter) under-mounted greywater tank, a generator in case the family runs out of power, and an outdoor mini-split unit.

At the rear, Megan and Landon fitted a deck holding a bike rack, a toy Jeep, and a telescopic ladder. And finally, they added two huge, 6-foot (1.8-meter) boxes on the driver's side. What's more, their doors can be flipped up and propped up using chains to serve as outdoor tables.

The couple replaced the bus's original door with a conventional one, complete with a keypad lock. Step inside, and you'll be greeted by a tastefully designed interior with a mainly white aesthetic. Due to the raised roof and many windows, the interior feels extremely spacious.

No part of this bus's inside was left untouched, the only exception being the driver's area, which includes the seat and the dashboard. The duo installed two shelves and shoe storage spots by the entrance, a large shelf covering the front part underneath the windshield, overhead cabinets and cubbies, and a swivel-mounted 40-inch TV.

Next up, we have the "living room" of the bus. It consists of two couches, one on each side, which can fit a total of six people. The family can attach two hammock chairs to the ceiling if they plan on having more guests.

Like in other bus conversions, the two couches can be connected to form a king-size bed. Moreover, they use the spaces underneath them for storage, with one of the couches also housing a diesel heater.

Walk deeper inside the bus, and you'll be in the kitchen. It's very well-equipped, featuring an oven/three-burner stove combo, a farmhouse-style sink, and an apartment-size fridge/freezer with a microwave above it.

Storage is usually an issue in mobile home kitchens, but not in this one – there are many cabinets and drawers underneath the countertop, five sizeable overhead cabinets, a huge floor-to-ceiling pantry, and other spots. To be frank, there are as many storage spaces as in the kitchen of a conventional home.

Opposite the kitchen, you'll notice two flip-up tables and a small corner for the family's dog. By the way, this family kept their safety in mind and installed a propane detector and a 2-in-1 smoke and carbon monoxide detector.

It's important to give the little ones their own rooms, even when you're traveling in a tiny home on wheels. Megan and Landon's son has a bedroom on the passenger side of the interior. It boasts a tiny mattress, a window, and four small shelves. Furthermore, the space under the bed is used for storage.

To prevent their son from falling off the bed, especially since it's positioned higher up, they bought and installed a roll-up crib mesh door.

You'll notice a barn door in the same area but on the other side. Slide it open, and you'll discover a hanging closet above and a washer/dryer combo under, a must for families. Well, perhaps "a must" is an overstatement - you could do without one, but having one makes your life much easier.

The bathroom is split into two parts – one features a Nature's Head composting toilet and a tiny vanity area with a sink and a mirror, while the other is a walk-in shower with a bench and waterproof tiles imitating white marble.

Finally, the rear is occupied by the bedroom, separated from the rest of the living space by a beautiful sliding door. It boasts a bed with a 100-gallon (378-liter) freshwater tank underneath a 9,000-BTU mini-split, a diesel heater, and a large skylight.

Again, there are plenty of storage spaces in the form of drawers, shelves, cubbies, and two overhead cabinets with rattan inserts. But wait, there's more – a garage at the very rear offers additional storage space and houses the rig's power system.

Its highlights are a 3,000 W inverter and solar charge controllers connected to 1,000 W solar panels on the roof. I wish I could tell you the battery capacity, but Megan and Landon didn't share that information.

All in all, this family built the perfect mobile home to suit their needs and wants. I've seen very few skollies with this amount of storage space that still manage to integrate other much-needed features.
