The 812 is no longer Ferrari's mainstream top dog, as that role has recently gone to the 12Cilindri. The latter is a brand-new front mid-engine and rear-wheel drive proposal from the Prancing Horse that's been named after its heart, as it packs a punchy naturally aspirated V12.
It is a 6.5-liter unit that is believed to be an evolution of the one powering the 812, which screams all the way up to 9,500 rpm and unleashes 818 hp (830 ps/610 kW) and 500 pound-foot (678 Nm) of torque. Ferrari says the 12Cilindri needs only 2.9 seconds to 62 mph (100 kph) and has a maximum speed of 211 mph (340 kph) for the Coupe. The Spider can hit 62 mph in 2.95 seconds and has an identical top speed.

We may have gotten a little carried away with the new 12Cilndri, as this story has nothing to do with Ferrari's latest toy for the rich crowd. In fact, it is about its predecessor, the 812 Superfast, or the black copy pictured above, to be more precise. It came straight from Novitec's portfolio, looking better than ever and proving that less is more in the tuning game.

Chances are you cannot tell what's new about this Ferrari 812 Superfast unless you're a die-hard fan of the discontinued model. Don't look for the usual attachments at both ends and at the sides, nor a reupholstered cockpit. It doesn't even have more power than stock, as the tuning fairy granted it two specific wishes covering the wheels and suspension.

According to the social media post embedded below, the alloys are called the NF10, and they came straight from the tuner's portfolio. They have a ten-spoke design, new rubber wrapped around them, and Ferrari's logo on the center caps. Novitec also signed the suspension that has brought the body closer to the ground, yet it hasn't said whether it comprises shorter springs or a more intricate design.

Nevertheless, this is one Ferrari 812 Superfast that can turn heads for the right reasons. It looks spectacular with the black finish all around, and its new black wheels and shaved ground clearance. The only things providing contrast to the exterior are the OEM logos all around and the yellow brake calipers that are visible from behind the fresh alloys.

It is possible that Novitec hasn’t touched the sonorous 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 engine, which is hood for 788 horsepower (800 ps/588 kW) and 530 pound-feet (718 Nm) of torque on this model. The Italian company says the 812 Superfast takes only 2.9s to 62 mph and has a top speed of 211 miles an hour (340 kph), and if you remember the 12Cilindri's numbers, then you know that it is equally fast.
