The Nissan Qashqai +2 will be dropped when the next-generation crossover SUV arrives in 2014, the Japanese company confirmed earlier this week.
According to Auto Express, quoting Nissan sources, the Nissan Qashqai won’t be available as a seven-seater starting next year, with the automaker planning to add two more seats to the X-Trail compact crossover SUV instead.
“The X-Trail will get seven seats; the Qashqai will only be offered with five,” a Nissan insider revealed after global product planning boss Andy Palmer confirmed that the company will continue to offer the seven-seat option on a different vehicle.
Built in Sunderland (UK) on a new platform that will be shared with the new Renault Megane, among other cars, the next-generation Nissan Qashqai will be revealed to the public in November. Production is rumored to start in December 2013, with the first examples to hit dealerships in early 2014.
