As we previously reported, Nissan is planning to take full advantage of the new Micra’s platform and will use it to build a sedan model, as well as an MPV.
Now, the Japanese automotive producer has released a sketch for the future saloon, calling the vehicle the “New Global Sedan”.
As, you can see, the company won’t just release a sedan version of the Micra. Instead, the upcoming car will have its own personality, with its design clearly indicating this. The new global sedan will make its debut at the 8th China International Automobile Exhibition, which will be held in Guangzhou in December this year.
The new Micra’s architecture is called the “V platform”, with the name standing for versatility, as the platform can be used for multiple body types. Nissan has released a forecast indicating that the platform will eventually serve as a base for as much as one million vehicles per year.
Nissan’s plans for the vehicle will see China become the first market for it to be launched on, with India following in the second half of next year.
“Following the success of our first locally made car –the Nissan Micra, we are happy to reveal the first sketch of the second car to be produced in India. We are confident that the “New Global Sedan”, which is also based on the versatile ‘V’ platform, will delight the discerning Indian customers. The model will be launched in India in the second half of 2011,” Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, MD and CEO, Nissan India said.
