The days when the Nissan Leaf used to struggle on low sales seem to be a thing of the past, with the Japanese automaker now selling more than 2,000 units a month, four time more when compared to last year's volume.
In fact, recent sales are so high that Nissan's director of electric vehicles, Erik Gottfried, has announced the company will be short of Leaf inventory until late fall. "We're going to be short on inventory all through the summer. It will be late fall before we can produce enough to satisfy everybody," Gottfried said after meeting with US dealers in Dallas recently.
The 2013 Nissan Leaf can be ordered from $29,750, including destination, but the price can drop a further $7,500 is customers apply for the federal tax credit.
In other related new, Nissan is planning to expand its US charging infrastructure by adding over 100 charging stations at dealers location.
