Earlier this month, we gave an unofficial video that showed the Nissan Juke-R racing a gang of supercars in a Dubai street course and now we’re back with the official footage. Nissan has released a clip that shows how the Juke with a GT-R engine managed to beat a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ferrari 458 Italia and a Mercedes SLS AMG after multiple laps of a 0.58 km street course created at the Dubai International Marine Club.
The vehicle was driven by Lucas Ordonez, the man who want the first edition of the Nissan GT Academy back in 2008 and who made a podium Le Mans finish last year. We’re in love with the GT-R, we enjoyed the Juke during our test drive, so it’s only natural that we like the Juke-R and want it to be able to beat supercars.
However, we can’t help question certain aspects seen in the clip: first of all the Juke-R has an official 0 to 62 mph time of 3.7 seconds, which is identical to that of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 that the crossover starts next to. Well, in this case, we don’t understand how by the first corner, which arrives pretty quickly, the Juke manages to build a hefty lead? (you’ll see this at 0:09).
And we also couldn’t help notice how the Juke-R is the fastest despite the fact that it seems considerably more sideways driven than the others. We can’t draw a conclusion just by viewing some video angles, but we really hope none of this was staged.
