The Nissan Juke has been named the CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA). Members of the automotive media from across the state organized a Truck Rodeo to select their favourite SUVs and CUVs in 20 categories.
"Obviously, we think the Nissan JUKE is something special and is going to shake things up in the CUV category with its styling and performance capability," said Pat Steiner, regional vice president, Nissan North America. "But to receive this kind of validation from the respected journalists of TAWA affirms we're going in the right direction."
The Texas Truck Rodeo is a media ride-and-drive project, which is held annually and allows journalists to get behind the wheel of trucks, SUVs and CUVs. The program uses on- and off-road courses and lasts two days, with the journalists voting on the vehicle’s performance in multiple categories.
"The Nissan JUKE was a breath of fresh air at this year's rodeo with its unique and aggressive styling," said Michael Herzing, president of TAWA. "On top of that it's fun and exciting to drive. I think it's going to surprise a lot of people and bring home a lot more awards."
The U.S. version of the Juke is powered by a gasoline 1.6 liter engine that uses turbocharging and direct injection to deliver 188 hp, using a torque vectoring all-wheel-drive system to send the power to the ground.
The Nissan Juke will reach showroom across America this month, retailing for a starting price of $18,960.
