The Golf Twist is available in three- or five-door variants, and is fitted with a 1.4-litre petrol engine which develops 80 PS and 132 Nm of torque, coupled with a six-speed manual transmission.
Acceleration from zero to 62 mph takes 13.9 seconds and the new model has a top speed of 107 mph (172 km/h). The Golf Twist has a combined cycle economy figure of 44.1 mpg (5.33 l/100km) and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km.
The new entry-level model adds more than GBP700 of extra equipment over the Golf S on which it is based. The Twist comes equipped with 16-inch ‘Atlanta’ alloy wheels, RCD 310 radio system with MDI multimedia connectivity and a front centre armrest. Safety wise, the Twist includes ABS, ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) and seven airbags.
As said, the new Golf Twist costs GBP12,995 RRP on the road with a GBP585 premium for the five-door model. However, Volkswagen is also offering various retail and finance offers.
Specifically, the Golf Twist is available with a fixed-price servicing package for retail customers. A one-off highly competitive payment of just GBP250 covers servicing needs for three years or 30,000 miles (whichever comes first).
Alternatively, the Golf Twist is offered through Volkswagen Solutions and is eligible for the existing finance offer available on all Golf models, with 7.9 per cent APR typical. This includes free servicing for three years or 30,000 miles helping to reduce the cost of ownership.
