New Suomy Apex Full Face Helmet Details Released

One of the highest appreciated helmet manufacturers in the world, Suomy, will present its latest innovation at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan this November. Dubbed Apex, the new full face helmet is described as a top-of-the-line product, incorporating comfort and technology features for both rider and racer.

Using 360 degree scientific knowledge, the Apex has been designed and tested in wind tunnels to optimize external flow while taking serious consideration to the internal ventilation.

Exterior aerodynamics features comprise specially designed ribs that were added to channel the air flow from the front to the back of the helmet. This is meant to block disturbing aerodynamic turbulence, enhancing the internal silence of the helmet. Also, the new spoiler moves the air turbulence “break point” behind and away from the shell.

Furthermore, the adjustable air intake on the chin guard has an ergonomic design, allowing the user to activate it even while wearing gloves. The same applies to the air intake on the upper part of the shell. The new polycarbonate back spoiler, also tested in the wind tunnel, eliminates the incoming airflow through the newly developed exhaust ports.

As for the shell, Suomy has used a new composite that comprises a four-mixed layer of fiberglass, aramidic and carbon material. The shell is therefore lighter and more resistant in the event of a crash. “The Apex is a helmet for all situations!” Suomy says. Inside the helmet, Suomy has used the Coolmax Active fabric that moves away the body sweat, therefore keeping the user dry and comfortable.

The Apex will come in shell sizes M, L and Xl, while the retention system used is the company’s renown “D-RING” with double D rings.

Finally, the visor is made by using a flat sheet which is then thermoformed. It’s not necessary to install fog free inserts inside the visor because the visors are treated with a permanent “antifog” system.
