New Renault Boss Wants Winning Attitude Inside the Garage

Turning a middle-field team into a front-runner inside the Formula One championship is not picnic for anyone. Well, maybe Ross Brawn proved us differently in the past 2 years, but the overall unwritten rule is that it normally takes a lot longer than that to get the job done and turn a poor team into a championship contender.

However, if that team's name is Renault and has a history of winning championships in F1, the job seems a lot easier. And that's exactly how new team boss Eric Boullier thinks of it, as he is convinced once he'll have boosted his team staff's morale in the off-season, the Enstone based outfit will start becoming successful once again in the series.

It will be my main goal, if I can say this, to make sure that the people are confident again. Morale was not that high at the end of last year – and it will be key for me for the success of this very competent team to have people who believe in themselves,” said Boullier in an interview with Autosport.

Apart from their winning-less season last year – the first one in years – the team was also heavily affected by its involvement in the crash-gate, which contributed to the poor morale inside the garage (especially since the scandal led to title sponsor ING immediately leaving the French manufacturer and walking away from the sport).

The core people here are the same as have been here for many years – and they have won in total four world championships. There is a great value here that we need not to forget – and it would be stupid of me with no previous F1 experience to shake up everyone here. The team is very competent – they just need to be a little bit reassured and get more confidence for the future,” added Boullier in the aforementioned interview.

Before the official announcement of Boullier for the team manager role, former boss Bob Bell revealed that the team's aim for the 2010 season is challenging for the Top 3 overall and setting the base for a title-winning car the year after.
