Opel hopes this stylish new convertible built on the platform of the Astra J is just the car needed to shape up its image. The Cascada looks much better than the old Astra TwinTop but does away with a folding metal roof and uses a classic ragtop.
The Cascada features Opel clever HiPerStrut front suspension which eliminates torque steer in most situations. The chassis is also much stiffer, which should help with the handling. The car was actually developed on the Nurburgring, which indicates it handles to a reasonable extent.
But judging by the way it looks, the main selling point of the Cascada is the comfort and practicality. The rear bench seat has a folding 60/40 design.
The canvas roof folds away in just 17 seconds, and the mechanism can be operated at speeds of up to 50 km/h (30 mph).
