Nissan is busy ending the development of ICE ideas or promising the next (R36) GT-R will be a bonkers supercar all over again. However, the rumor mill and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators have other plans.
Indeed, the Japanese automaker has taken a radically different approach from Toyota, Mazda, and Subaru, which recently announced that they plan to enter a partnership focused on developing cleaner, leaner next-generation combustion engines. Instead, Nissan is reportedly stopping investments in diesel and gasoline altogether – they're basically done spending money for ICE.
However, that doesn't mean their next GT-R iteration will suffer as the company has promised to deliver yet another legend – but it does need more time to develop the R36, and it may not come with a gasoline engine anymore. During that time, the rumor mill and the parallel universes of vehicular CGI thought that Nissan would be pretty busy putting into effect its latest strategy, and there were already ideas for what models should come out next.
Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks that now is the right CGI time to make a ritzier Nissan Murano – especially since the Z52 third generation has been around since 2014, which is no less than a decade ago. Based on the latest spy photos, these renderings imagine the fourth Murano as the bigger and ICE-powered brother of the all-electric Aryia, judging by the front fascia and rear-end treatment.
By the way, there's also a quick comparison between the new CGI Murano and the old (real) one, just to make it easier to see the changes. However, do remember these are unofficial renderings and need to be taken with a pinch of salt until the automaker makes everything official. Also, suppose you would like to see Nissan bring out a larger SUV. In that case, Dimas Ramadhan, the virtual automotive artist behind the Digimods DESIGN channel on YouTube, has taken up the task of CGI-revealing an all-new Armada (the current generations shares the same underpinnings as the iconic Patrol).
This time around, the pixel master wasn't inspired by spy photos and the all-electric Aryia. Instead, he referenced the recent Nissan Qashqai facelift showcased in Europe for the compact crossover SUV. Curiously, it doesn't look all that bad on the much larger Armada – but it's also not necessarily worthy of calling it an all-new generation because it's more like an extensive facelift, just like on the Qashqai. So, which one is your CGI favorite? The Aryia-inspired new Nissan Murano crossover SUV or the Qashqai-influenced full-size Armada SUV? Or maybe none of them?
