I will be hunting for diecast cars again tomorrow. I have no clear objective for that, but if I come across anything interesting, I'll pick it up and review it for you afterward.
Since I decided not to renew my Hot Wheels Red Line Club membership, I have felt at peace again. Whenever Mattel launches a new product there, most collectors suffer from anxiety or, better said, FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). Sure, Premium models aren't as exclusive, but getting those for decent prices is almost no struggle.

It feels as if the diecast manufacturer is using Matchbox to implement different strategies. And the Moving Parts series has my complete attention. After all, having an opening hood or doors on a 1/64th-scale model is what most of us desire. And what's left for you to do if you can't get the RLC products and don't care much about the Elite64 series? You could turn to Tomica or other manufacturers or enjoy the Matchbox cars.

The 2024 Moving Parts line-up contains 54 vehicles, including sports cars, supercars, SUVs, and pickup trucks, among other things. The most coveted models are the Super Chase collectibles, and it just so happens that one of them is part of the most recent, upcoming mix. That's right; you should watch for the '59 Volkswagen 23 Microbus.

It debuted in 2019 with the 50th Anniversary Superfast series, alongside other cool cars like the '04 Honda S-2000 and the '80 Porsche 911 Turbo. A Superfast variation appeared the following year, sporting a black and white livery. So this means you're now looking at the third iteration, this time in orange and white. You'll notice the "SC" decals on the rear, but even without these, it would still have been the star of the show here.

I haven't seen one for sale on the open market yet, but it may easily go for $50 or more once it shows up on eBay. You will notice at least two interesting aspects about the 1962 Ford Anglia once you see it. It uses a different card art than all the other collectibles in the set, and Harry Potter fans will likely love it. It doesn't stop at "opening doors," as you can also get a look inside the trunk. It is a brand new casting to make things even more exciting, although I'm inclined to ignore it in favor of some other models seen here.

The 2022 Jaguar i-Pace is not one of them. It, too, is a new casting for Matchbox, but it has a strong chance of becoming a peg warmer if you ask me. The 2023 Nissan Ariya might suffer the same fate, even more so considering this is the second iteration of Garry Gopinath's casting. And even though I'm not a huge SUV fan, I felt an immediate attraction toward the 1975 Range Rover.

It has been a Moving Parts exclusive item since its debut in 2022. Packaging for this series wasn't quite as nice then, and I don't even remember seeing it in any stores near me. Mattel opted for an iconic Bahama Gold finish on the First Edition and an orange/black combo on the following Super Chase iteration.

I noticed one seller on eBay asking $300 for all four of last year's Chase collectibles. So, if you aren't willing to spend that budget, forget about it. Dark Green is a splendid choice for the third release of the Range Rover, and I'm happy to see it has an opening hood instead of the doors. Which one of these items will you be hunting for?
