The very new iPad Mini is truly perfect for in-car entertainment, provided you have the necessary skills to make some sort of secure dock for it, and find some way to connect it to the car’s speakers. Thanks to its smaller 7.9-inch display, it fits neatly into the center console of pretty much any car.
This video shows how it works in a 2012 Toyota Corolla, where audio specialist ‘Soundwaves of Tampa’ says it’s the first company to install the tablet in a car. They have made a nifty ‘adapter’, if you will, which allows the iPad to be slid out of the side, with ease, then once it’s in, integrating it into the dash design seamlessly.
The installation cost is about $800 / €620, not including the iPad, yet there will also be a DIY kit available, for those who have some experience with automotive wiring looms and entertainment systems.
