The third version of the Hispano Suiza Carmen, which adds the Sagrera suffix, debuted a few weeks back to celebrate the company's 120th anniversary. The new model is an electric hypercar that stays true to that quirky shape and features several distinctive styling cues.
One of them is the oversized rear wing, which was inspired by stork wings. The new hood has air vents on it and a new diffuser can also be seen, and the automaker states that the aerodynamic modifications have improved the new model's downforce and grip, so it can corner faster.
A Cava Gold paint finish decorates the exterior, whereas the cabin offers a mix of leather and Alcantara upholstery. Hispano Suiza also redesigned the Carmen Sagrera's center console, which houses a new infotainment system that can display personalized messages.
Mind you, it is what lies beneath the skin that should interest you as it rocks a larger-capacity battery pack. The 103 kW (up from 80 kW) lithium-ion unit has a T-shape, tips the scales at 1,349 pounds (612 kg), and operates at a maximum voltage of over 750VDC.
It enables a 298-mile (480 km) driving range on the WTLP test cycle and powers no fewer than four electric motors, each one generating around 275 horsepower (279 ps/205 kW). Hispano Suiza says the new Carmen Sagrera boasts a combined 1,100 horsepower (1,115 ps/820 kW) and a peak torque of 848 pound-foot (1,150 Nm), enabling 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in just 2.6 seconds.
Other highlights of the company's new electric hypercar include carbon ceramic brakes with 15.7-inch (400 mm) discs at both axles, adjustable suspension made of lightweight materials with an anti-roll bar linking both sides, a virtual self-locking differential for optimal track performance and efficient torque transfer, and a stiffer pedal board with increased grip.
But what's with all the talk about this model? Well, Hispano Suiza just announced that the new Carmen Sagrera will make its dynamic premiere at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) next week. The fresh model will be pushed at the famous hillclimb by brand ambassador and former Formula 1 driver Luis Perez-Sala, who will also jump behind the wheel of the Carmen Boulogne at the event that runs between July 11 and 14 in the United Kingdom.
Thus, you know where you should be next week if you want to see Hispano Suiza's latest toy for the rich, the Carmen Sagrera, as well as the Carmen Boulogne. Mind you, these won't be the only fast rides that will take on the course between the famous haystacks during the event, as multiple other car manufacturers have already announced their presence at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. So, are you attending the event?
