Recently showcased at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, the new Mercedes E-Klasse will be priced between €41,590 and €70,269, the German automaker today announced in a press statement. This means prices will remain basically the same as for the previous model despite the impressive upgrade of standard features, engines and technology, the company continued its praise.
For instance, the new E-Klasse features fatigue recognition system, adaptive shock absorbers, a driver kneebag, an active engine hood, daytime running lights, a Bluetooth cell phone interface, and a large colour display on the instrument panel. In addition, the V6 and the V8 variants add direct steering and a seven-speed automatic transmission while the E500 eight-cylinder sedan brings pneumatic suspension and electronically controlled damping system.
There are several equipment levels available, including the Lane package (available for €892.50) that brings Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist. The Driver Assistance package on the other hand includes Distronic Plus cruise control, Brake Assist Plus and Pre-Safe. It costs €2,558, according to Mercedes figures.
The Light package, available at prices between €238 and €1,689, consists of bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime driving lamps and Mercedes' Intelligent Light System. The Rear Comfort package can be bought for €3,718 and includes leather upholstered and heated individual rear seats, integrated sun shades in the rear doors, and an electric shade on the inside of the back window, Mercedes said.
