In 2006, Dacia launched the first estate version of the Logan, called the Logan MCV. Even though 360,000 of them were sold in 40 countries, we could never like it because it was so ugly. To be fair, the old Logan MCV was a decent vehicle for what you were paying, but it looked about as sexy as a pair of old work boots.
But when the Geneva Motor Show opened its doors today, an expected but welcomed sight met us. It' the brand new Logan MCV, the cheapest estate car you can buy and still be happy with the way it looks.
The new MCV shares its attractive design with the Logans sedan but adds a huge 573 liter boot that can grow to 1518 liters once you fold the rear seats.
"New Logan MCV is more dynamic in appearance, with its slightly inclined rear window, for example, and, in side profile, styling cues, shared with Lodgy and Duster. The new design places New Logan MCV squarely within modern style trends, but without sacrificing the capacious interior. This is a large car, and proudly so!" - David Durand, entry program design director.
The new Logan MCV will be launched this summer and will be offered with the same range of engines as the Logan and Sandero, starting with the 1.2 16v 75, and continuing with the new TCe 90. Both the 90 hp version of Renault's 1.5 dCi diesel engine, which promises best-in-class economy when fitted with the Eco2 pack.
