The Audi TTS is almost ready for its launch and in order to keep the excitement going, the Germans have released this short but very cool promo video. In it, a red coupe comes from outer space like a comet, plunges though the atmosphere while breaking the sound barrier and lands on a massive ramp designed to cushion its arrival.
Plunging though the stratosphere in a car is impossible... even if it's German. Let's just hope that Audi doesn't have to delete this video because the health and safety people don't like it, since we rather enjoyed it.
Audi probably got the idea for this promo from its new infotainment system. It's called "Virtual Cockpit" and you can see it in action at the start of the video, when it displays the earth right in front of the driver.
As a short reminder, the TTS is the performance version of Audi's smallest coupe and now comes with a 310 hp 2-liter turbo engine. Thanks to standard all-wheel drive and by using a twin-clutch S tronic gearbox, it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds (manual takes 4.9s).
What we can't tell you yet is the price of the beast, which will be announced 15 and a bit days from now in Germany.
"It takes guts to buy a car whose only practical purpose is the sheer joy of driving it. But as Audi's latest film demonstrates, life is a daring adventure or nothing at all," the video description claims. You can find out what they mean and keep yourself up-to-date with the TTS at this website.
