Having entered production in 2019, the eighth-generation Nissan Sentra is an old product by today's standards. So, does that mean the Japanese automaker is working on its successor?
Only Nissan knows the answer to this question, and in all likelihood, they may consider it. However, that does not mean they're also prepping one, as any vehicle that's not a crossover (with the occasional electric twist) is a gamble in the modern-day car world. All other body styles have lost significant ground to high-riders these past few years.

The current Sentra builds on the CMF-C/D platform. This makes it identical to the Rogue/X-Trail, Qashqai/Rogue Sport, Renault Megane IV, Austral, Espace, Rafale, Mitsubishi Outlander, etc. It is a front-wheel drive proposal, so no matter how much you may ask your local Nissan dealer for an all-wheel drive one, you won't get one.

Nissan's 2024 Sentra lineup comprises the S, SV, and SR. These start at $21,180, $22,110, and $24,270, respectively, before the $1,140 destination charge. If you want alloy wheels, you should upgrade to the mid-spec, as the entry-level has steel ones with covers. The mid-range model also adds more upscale cloth upholstery and an intelligent key, and the top grade brings additional goodies.

A 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with 16 valves powers the entire Sentra family. It develops 149 hp (151 ps/111 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 146 pound-foot (198 Nm) of torque at 4,400 rpm. The S and SV versions return a combined 34 mpg (6.9 l/100 km), whereas the SR is slightly thirstier at 33 mpg (7.1 l/100 km).

Now that we've reminded ourselves about the brand's compact sedan let's move on to the real reason behind this story: the pictured Sentra. Well, pictured may be too big a word, as it's a mere rendering of a hypothetical next-generation that SRK Designs shared on YouTube recently.

Can you spot the vehicle that was used as a blank canvas? If you said Nissan's Evo Concept presented at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, then you, sir (or ma'am), sure know your modern-day Nissans. If you have no idea what we're talking about, then you should click this link to read all about it (and other studies unveiled at the same event).

But don't do that yet, as we have to tell you about the virtual modifications received by this digital model. It has a few revisions to its front lighting signature, a license plate holder, regular door handles, and fresh wheels. It also sports a red finish with a few black accents, and that's about everything, as the rest of the styling cues are identical to the concept ones.

So, assuming Nissan would introduce a new Sentra, would you want it to look like this?
