With a career that spanned over 45 years and 35 studio albums, Neil Young has never stopped exploring musical styles. But the two-time Hall of Fame artist is not only discovering new ways of making the sound of his guitar bless our ears, but he is also trying to change the auto industry into a better and healthier one.
All his fans were shocked when he and Pegi Young, his 61-year old wife of 37 years, filed for divorce in their hometown of San Mateo, California, on July 29th. Months later, the rockstar was seen with his new girlfriend, 51-year old Daryl Hannah. Even though he tried to keep things away from the public eye, it was only a matter of time before people would find out. So now, as his official partner, the only natural step for Young to do was to take her for a ride in his famous 1959 Lincoln Continental.

Apart from being a restored vintage beauty, this particular car is the music icon and car fanatic’s beloved vehicle for what it stands for. Reports are he spent $1 million to develop the bio-mass powered hybrid electric system that the car runs on. And he did this because Neil Young is fighting to promote a hybrid engine into the 21st century auto industry, as he is also a great environmentalist.

The rock icon took the trip to Las Vegas after the organizers of the auto show once again invited him to talk about his hybrid-fueled classic Lincoln. We’re pretty sure you missed Neil Young’s speech so we listed it bellow, just in case you might want to check it out. The footage was uploaded on the hybrid car’s website which we think is also worth taking a visit.

Update: Folks over at LincVolt were kind enough to give us a heads up. It turns out the video below is in fact Neil Young's last year's speech. When we found it on their website we assumed it was taken this year, but they updated the copy now. They haven't yet uploaded any of the footage taken this year. Anyway, we still think it's worth watching, in case you didn't already last year.
