The 2009-born alliance between defense contractor Navistar and Czech heavy-duty off-road trucks manufacturer Tatra has already become reality, as the two will jointly present two vehicles at this year's Eurosatory Exposition in Paris.
The two vehicles presented at the event, the ATX6 universal container carrier and the ATX8 troop carrier, use Navistar engines and components, paired with Tatra-built backbone-tube chassis and independent suspension system.
“The Navistar-Tatra alliance positions this team well to compete for new vehicle programs with US and Allied Forces,” Archie Massicotte, Navistar Defense president said in a statement.
“Both our companies have extensive histories when it comes to vehicle design, production and support and we are proud to display our combined expertise in tactical vehicle technology at this year’s Eurosatory Exposition.”
At the beginning of this month, the two partners announced they will work together for the creation of a new Standard Military Pattern vehicle for Canada's Department of National Defense.
In addition, Navistar and Tatra branded trucks will be sold as Navistar vehicles in North America, while Tatra will source parts and components through Navistar’s supply chain.
“Our technical and business teams have put their shoulders to the wheel to develop these vehicles in a matter of a few months,” Ronald Adams, Tatra CEO added. “It is gratifying to have the first two products ready for customers’ review at Eurosatory. These are truly exceptional tactical vehicles that will be offered through the combined Navistar and Tatra distribution channels.”
