Most In-Car Fighting Caused by Directions

We've seen up until now the results of countless studies which tried to figure out what people do most while behind the wheel, except for driving, of course. But never, until this moment, did we wonder what do people argue about while traveling for great distances.

The answer to this unasked question was given by a study ordered by navigation solutions retailer Halfords. According to them, one in three people in a car argue about where they are headed and, even more, the best way to get there.

Now, you must have in mind that the over 2,200 people who responded to the survey were more or less evenly split in half (50 percent women, 50 percent men) and most of them were couples. Which might explain what you are about to read below.

80 percent of women complain the male partner partners never checked the route before setting off (while only 65 percent of the men say the same thing about their partners). Even more, 85 percent of both men and women complain their partners never stop to ask for directions.

The second place for conjugal fights behind the wheel is a fight which started at home and is entering overtime in the car, kids complaining about the time the trip takes ranks third, while the driving skills (or lack off) of the partner is the fourth most frequent cause of in-car fighting.

“Whilst we have no plans to extend our services into marriage guidance, we can offer a solution to the most frequent causes of in-car rows,” Paul McClenaghan, Halfords commercial director says in a statement after announcing the results of the study.
