General Motors, unlike Ford, still holds a shimmer of hope that classic sedans have a fighting chance in this automotive world riddled with passion for crossovers, SUVs, and trucks.
As such, they offer stuff like the $25k Chevrolet Malibu sedan to anyone interested in an affordable four-door. The rest of the customer base might get better served by the luxury Cadillac division, though, where the choice is even greater. Over there, the executive sedan menu begins with the $39,495 CT4 and can go up as high as the $93,390 CT5-V Blackwing if you want to.

Interestingly, these Cadillac series' predecessors – ATS plus ATS-V and CTS plus CTS-V – used to be some of the biggest darlings of the aftermarket realm when it came the time for some quarter-mile dragstrip shenanigans. Over time, if you're a regular in this area of motorsport, you might have come across Caddy sedans that were ready and willing to play on equal footing with nine-second Tesla Plaids or veritable supercars!

However, it's been a long time since I remember seeing a fresh Caddy duking it out at the local track. Well, that draught ends now, thanks to the good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube, who have a quintet of nice brawls from Island Dragway focused on a feisty Caddy. So, the location is quite well-known – the Great Meadows, New Jersey-based track is an NHRA regular in both quarter- and eighth-mile racing.

But the Caddy is rather odd – a CT4-V compact executive sedan dressed in white, which makes it relatively inconspicuous. However, according to the description, the luxury four-door hides a little secret – some feisty mods from across the aftermarket realm that are designed to make it faster and more reliable at the track. Interestingly, it didn't have trouble finding opponents – perhaps signaling that a lot of people like measuring their forces with these renowned American sedans.

First, a gray Audi (possibly an S3 sedan) tried to show that imports might be better. Well, that was to no avail, as the Caddy's driver knows a thing or two about racing – hence the excellent reaction times shown across all brawls. In the end, the CT4-V made short work of the four-ringed opponent even though the Audi driver recouped some of the gap between them (11.73s versus 11.93s).

Secondly, the General Motors fans got a fight between the CT4-V and a burgundy-shaded Camaro, but that one isn't anything worth writing home about – 11.8s versus 14.11s reveals a shameful performance from the iconic pony car. No worries, next up, the Caddy was already biting more than it could chew as a subtle BMW (perhaps an M3 or maybe just a quick M340i) soundly beat the CT4-V and gave us its only loss of the day: 11s versus 11.73s.

However, the constant performance continued for the Caddy and next came a white knight in S650 armor – the 2024 Ford Mustang GT dropped by to say hello and lose a quick race: 11.7 versus 12.22s and it seems that low 12s are the new averages for the Coyote V8-equipped Blue Oval pony car. Last but not least, the CT4-V had one more race left in the fuel tank – against an older BMW 5 Series that put up a great fight but still lost to the feisty compact executive sedan (11.76s versus 12.27s)! Cool, right?
