The IIHS released a batch of crash test videos today, mostly subcompacts and compacts. Among them, a couple of 2014 Mitsubishi Mirages test cars received their baptism of fire, along with models like the Mazda 2, Pirus c, Toyota Yaris or Kia Rio.
What's really strange is that, as you can see in the video, the Mirage test car is pink… or fuchsia if you want to be girly about it. It's not a very dignified color and draws all the more attention to the fact that the door come off a bit, the roof crumples and the passenger cell is deformed. What's more, the poor, defenseless dummy gets a mouthful of dashboard plastic, sliding past the airbag.
Giving a more serious tone to the story, the Chevy Spark was the only one of the tiny car to do well in the IIHS tests. All the more reason to buy "American" and ignore the Mitsubishi. During the small overlap crash front crash test, the Spark was the only car to score an acceptable rating.
