The good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube are not at their usual quarter-mile venue - Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey but at Pocono Raceway, where everyone tries to roll over everybody else.
Known as 'The Tricky Triangle,' Pocono is a legendary racetrack nestled in the Pocono Mountains in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. It usually gets big crowds during the summer - the three NASCAR National Series races and an ARCA Menards Series event take place in July. But the rest of the year isn't silent, either.

Instead, RaceMotive has an entire season's worth of roll racing events at Pocono Raceway, mostly in the MPH Exhibition Open Run format. However, there's also an initial 65 MPH Roll Race event, a 1/3-mile (1,760-foot) roll-racing SxS Shootout, which attracts quite a lot of participants.

Here, let us give you a few examples from past coverage of the channel – a McLaren 570S tried to fight a 1,050-hp Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and absolute destruction was unsurprising; a tuned Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 raced that modded Hellcat along with BMW's M3 and Toyota's GR Corolla and rolled them well, a Corvette Stingray couldn't get enough of racing the Big Detroit Three (Hellcat, Camaro, Mustang Mach 1), a Cadillac CTS-V decided to head out into a field of Corvette, Camaro, Hellcat, BMW, and not roll over cute, or twin 1,100-hp and 1,200-hp Corvette Z06s fought against Camaro, 911 Turbo, a Caddy, and more BMWs, and so on.

The focus is now on something quite different and exotic – a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. This machine feels better on a rally course than a paved superspeedway like Pocono, but of course, we should always expect the unexpected when at the racetrack. According to the description, its first opponent is a mighty 1,200-hp C6 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Obviously, though, both were greatly tuned high-speed machines, as the Z06 narrowly beats the Evo IX with 177 versus 167 mph trap speeds.

The Evo then called for a rematch, and something went wrong with the Corvette because the driver hit the brakes early and only posted a 123-mph pass against its opponent's unleashed 177-mph attempt. Thirdly, the feisty Mitsubishi went up against a Lexus IS300 allegedly sporting 1,000 horsepower under the hood – the luxury sedan didn't disappoint with the 169 mph pass, but it wasn't enough to match Lancer's 175 mph attempt either. Last but not least, a BMW executive sedan also came along 'strolling' at 136 mph – which was quite far behind Evo's 117-mph final pass.

As for Mitsubishi, the Japanese automaker's American division is currently trying to exit the shadows of its former self with the fresh Momentum 2030 strategy that includes new powertrains, more vehicle introductions, as well as new dealer partners, plus the introduction of new technologies. Still, don't bet on a new Lancer, though.
