At the 2012 Australian International Motor Show (AIMS), Mitsubishi Motors’ global president, Osamu Masuki said the company is considering a next Mitsubishi Evolution, however one that will be be motivated by some sort of electric mix. Yes, a hybrid.
As you all know by now, this has not been a popular idea with fans ever since the first rumors emerged. However, Mitsubishi is struggling with its small range of cars, and probably won’t have the Evo XI ready for a while.
According to Australian publication CarAdvice, the company official talked at length about the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, where a modified i-MiEV took second place in class.
“We wanted to find the limitations of EV (electric vehicles). (We now) have quite a lot of information after doing this.” Masuki said.
“As far as Evolution is concerned, now we are facing a new world, which means that we could design an evolution of new era with this spirit. We are always trying to activate our sport car development” Okamoto said.
Basically, electric sportscar will become more mainstream by the time the electrified Evo comes out, so nobody will be bothered.
But soon Evo fans will be saying “remember the good ol’ days?”
