Earlier today, we saw the MINI JCW GP fighting a Red Bull stunt plane on the track and now it’s time to bring the vehicle back on stage again, as its specs have leaked.
The JCW GP made it debut back in May, but MINI hasn’t announced the specs of the vehicle. Fortunately, the info has now surfaced thanks to MotoringFile, which is offering us the details of the Euro-spec vehicle.
It seems that the MINI JCW GP will pack 218 hp and climb up to 206 lb-ft (279 Nm) when the Overboost feature is activated, while tipping the scales at a point that’s 100 lbs (45.4 kg) lighter than that of the “standard” JCW.
How does all this translate onto the road? The 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint is completed in 6.3 seconds, while the top speed sits at 150 mph (241.5 km/h). And while this might be a respectable Curriculum Vitae, the straight line performance of the new JCW GP is not all that impressive, since there are other hot hatches that trash it.
However, this is a car focused on handling and MINI has already told us that it is 19 second quicker round the ‘Ring compared to the 2006 MINI GP. Back to the leaked specs, it seems like the limited edition car will use a fully adjustable coilover suspension, with negative camber and Kumho rubber, while the braking system will use six-piston front calipers.
MINI will release only 2,000 units of the JCW GP, with a part of this (the figure hasn’t been specified yet) set to land on the US market.
