With the launch of the Tesla Cybertruck, the Cyber moniker has suddenly become very popular. MG bucks the trend with the "roadster reimagined" Cyberster and doubles down on the name with the Cyber GTS concept. The concept unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed to mark the brand's 100th anniversary might start production in 2025 as the coupe variant of the all-electric Cyberster roadster.
MG marks its 100th anniversary in style at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The British brand has been acquired by China's SAIC and is now on a roll, conquering market share in Europe. Having just launched the HS SUV, an uninspiring plug-in hybrid but likely to become a very popular family car, MG redeems itself with the Cyber GTS concept. If this looks familiar, it's because it's a coupe variant of the Cyberster Roadster.

The MG Cyber GTS shares most of the bodywork with the Cyberster, including the entire front end, bumpers, and lights. However, instead of a canvas roof, it sports a hardtop, which changes the silhouette significantly. The Cyber GTS has a sleeker roofline and a redesigned rear deck that gives it a distinct personality. There's no word yet on whether the coupe will share the scissor door with the Cyberster.

Although MG calls it a concept, it's obvious that this is already production-ready. In fact, MG will race a working prototype up the famous Goodwood Hill. This is finished in a new British Racing Green color and is fitted with 19-inch wheels. Another prototype will be on static display, and MG opted for 20-inch wheels on this one.

According to Auto Express, MG might start production of the Cyber GTS next year. While the prototype doesn't offer clues about the interior, MG confirmed it will feature a 2+2 layout and a more practical cabin than the Cyberster roadster. Technical specifications have not been revealed, but it's expected that the coupe shares most technical details with the open-top brother.

The single-motor Cyberster develops 310 or 335 horsepower, depending on the battery pack (64 or 77 kWh). Meanwhile, the dual-motor version adds another 201-hp motor on the front axle for a total of 536 horsepower. This improves the 0-100 kph (0-97 mph) time to 3.2 seconds from the 4.9 seconds of the RWD variants. The CLTC range is 500 km (310 miles) and 580 km (360 miles), respectively, for the single-motor variants, while the AWD model can go up to 520 km (320 miles) on a charge.

However, keep in mind that a coupe tends to be lighter than a roadster simply because the car body is more rigid, thus not needing the additional chassis strengthening around the windshield. Because of the fixed roof, a coupe is also more aerodynamically efficient. This means we should expect improved performance and efficiency from the Cyber GTS coupe.
