It’s been more than two month since the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Plug-in Hybrid was unwillingly confirmed by the German automaker, and the company’s first plug-in vehicle finally arrived into our news section for the second time.
Rumored to be called S500 Hybrid Plus, the plug-in flagship showed up on the web through a batch of patent photos that reveal a new exhaust system and a rear bumper redesigned to fit the charging port.
The first plug-in hybrid from Mercedes-Benz is said to come with a 306 HP 3.5-liter V6 engine and electric motor combo under the bonnet. Good for 109 HP (80 kW), the electric unit will be powered by a lithium-ion battery. Fuel consumption is rated at 3 liters/100 km (78.4 mpg US / 94.1 mpg UK).
While no official information has been released, the S500 Hybrid Plus is said to arrive sometime next year with a price tag below the €100,000 mark.
