Mercedes Modding Gone Wrong: Owner's Trying to Sell This Contraption and We've Seen Worse

It may be a matter of taste. But some tastes are worse than others, it seems. And this is the worst of the worst. This poor thing used to be a 2004 Mercedes SL looking just fine. But that was before the owner had something against "just fine." He probably wanted "just awkward" instead and this is what he got.

The car was spotted in Facebook Marketplace. The car isn't there anymore, which is a sign that the owner either took down the listing because of the backlash he had to face or the car eventually sold. Yeah, we think he took it down, too.

The listing claimed that "a beautiful Mercedes" is for sale in "excellent condition," with no mechanical faults and with a clean title. But there is something about "beautiful" that makes our stomachs twist and turn.

The color of the tuned SL is painted in red and black and all would have been "just fine" if the owner stopped right then and there. But that was actually just the beginning.

The car obviously has a personality disorder, because it sports logos that have no connection whatsoever with the Mercedes-Benz brand. A Bentley badge sits on top of the hood, while the rear reads "AMG," "V8," "Kompressor," and SL 500.

We would also dare to suggest the addition of the double M "Maybach" logo, too, xsitting right next to an "EQS" badge. That way, the owner of the Mercedes-Benz SL can make sure he did not miss a thing.

There is so much chrome on this car that you don't know where to look first. The headlights feature a yellowish light, but we can't possibly find a reason for that. It is not the age that has turned them yellow.

The contraption rides on red multi-spoke wheels. Of course, what else? Only gold could have beaten that. A massive wing showed up at the rear, above the quad-tailpipe exhaust integrated into an aftermarket diffuser with three vertical slats. We wonder what those diffuse.

The "beautiful" Benz (not our words!) is for sale “"as is," with only 60,000 miles on the clock, covered in 20 years spent on the road. The seller is asking for $9,500 for the contraption. In fact, he should probably pay to get rid of this cheap-looking Merc.

There is no information about the tuning procedure having interfered with the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine that operates under that glitzy hood. When it rolled off the production line in 2004, this car came with 302 horsepower (306 metric horsepower). That is probably the only good thing about this kitschy Benz.

Maybe someone should just buy it, return it to its stock condition, and save it the public shaming. The photos were also uploaded to Instagram and spotted by Mercedesblog.

If you think this Mercedes is bad, wait, there is more! Two years ago, we reported about a car spotted in a parking lot waiting for a public shaming, probably. It looked like the owner did everything he could possibly think of to ruin the car. And he surely nailed it.

Gone is the elegance, gone is the style, and luxury is far behind. There are people out there who can't understand why less is more and go for more is more.

Take the owner of this poor Mercedes-Benz S-Class W221, for instance. Rolling off the production line between 2005 and 2013, the sedan was next level in safety, comfort, and innovation at the time. In 2022, however, it was everything it should not have been.

For starters, it featured a license plate with a typo, visible from lightyears away. The boot lid is covered in badging. It reads "S 63," "Maybach," "V12," and "Brabus." Is there anything left out? Probably not. Furthermore, we have to understand from the offset that this car is "The Beast." Or so the rear window reads. This Beast features yellow striping (good thing it's not red, we have had enough of that!)

The Maybach logo also shows up on the C-pillars, because, of course, when it is not a Maybach, you have to fake it until you make it. We can also spot a McLaren badge and some LED strips, making the sedan look like a Christmas tree in July.

We can all agree that there is no such thing as too many tailpipes, right? But, well, the owner of this Benz tried his best to show us otherwise. So, we are dealing with four round tailpipes in the middle and dual exhausts under both ends of the bumper for a total of 12, making us wonder which one was there first. Probably, the owner forgot that, too.

Oh, Brabus, where art thou?
