It almost looks like German automakers are making each other’s cars these days. BMW has already added all-wheel drive to its 6-Series, which was already very Audi-like, with its automatic gearbox and turbocharged engine range.
Now, Mercedes has decided it also wants to frolic in the snow, since a report from CarAndDrive suggest the three-pointed car brand will add 4Matic all-wheel drive to both the C-Class and E-Class coupes. This will only be offered on the 3.5-liter versions, capable of delivering 302 horsepower in NA spec. However, that won’t make them a match for either the 650i, which has over 400 hp, not even for the V6 turbo-powered Audi S5.
However, the move might also be implemented on the C-Class sedan, which only comes with AWD in the C300 form. However, the more powerful E550 and the AMG models will be left untouched.
