The Mercedes-Benz W212 E-Class facelift has been officially launched for over half a year now in most countries, but the Malaysia version was just recently introduced in the country. Paul Tan was obviously at the launch and did a short report on the new model's differences compared to the old one.
The sedan version is locally assembled from CKD parts, so far only in E 200 and E 250 CGI guise, both of the models being available exclusively with the Avantgarde trim level.
Unlike the pre-facelift version, the base engine now features Artico man-made leather engulfing the upper part of the dashboard, a feature which was reserved for the larger engines before.
Other changes for the Malaysian version of the model, besides the obvious exterior changes (new headlights, front and rear bumpers and the ditching of the retro design motifs on the rear quarter panels) consist of a new twin-spoke design for the still 17-inch standard rims.
The E250 Avantgarde model comes with an Exterior Sports Package in standard, which consists of a set of 18-inch twin-spoke light alloy rims, larger perforated brake discs at the front and two integrated exhaust pipes at the rear.
The E 200 Avantgarde starts at RM 366,888, while the E 250 Avantgarde can be had starting from 405,888 without insurance. The two models will be joined by the E 400 by the end of the year, which features the new 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine.
