The other important world premiere that Mercedes Benz had at the Geneva Motor Show was a fully built-up version of the powertrain that will be used in the all-electric SLS ALG E-CELL> According to an official statement, this radical design will hit the market in 2013 but will only be available to a select few.
The system uses a couple of ynchronous electric motors positioned near the wheels that produce 392kW (526 hp) and a peak torque of 880Nm (649 lb-ft), going directly to all four wheels.
The output of each wheel can be varied independently, so the AWD system is going to very interesting dynamically. The ABS and ESP have also been changed especially for this version of the SLS.
The range is not yet know, but should be sufficient for everyday use, and the SLS should also be pretty quick: 0 to to 100 km/h (62mph) in 4 seconds, just 0.2 slower than the regular supercar.
