Mercedes-Benz F 800 Style Video Released

After this weekend German carmaker Mercedes Benz lets us feast our eyes on the Mercedes-Benz F 800 Style research vehicle, or, if you like, the future shape on the CLS-Klasse. The carmaker today released the first video showcasing the advancements achieved on this "show-and-tell" concept.

“The F 800 Style combines the functionality of a groundbreaking upper-class sedan with the highly emotional formal idiom of the new Mercedes-Benz design,” Mercedes-Benz Head of Design Gorden Wagener said in a release. “The long wheelbase and the model’s intelligent interior design ensure a generous amount of space and great freedom of movement for five occupants."

"The result is a distinctive harmony of form and function, whereby the Mercedes brand value of ‘cultivated sportiness’ can be seen and felt in every detail.”

The F800 combines two of the basic technologies for the green segment: the hydrogen fuel cell and the plug-in hybrid and pairs them with he V6 found on the S400 hybrid. This translates into a vehicle which develops 409 horsepower (300 from the V6 and 109 from the electric motor) and provides 18 miles of all electric range and 375 miles of fuel-cell driving.

The F800 is also used as a platform to showcase some of the technologies to be found in Mercedes Benz vehicles in the future, including the Pre-Safe 360-degree system (an upgraded version of the Pre-Safe collision detection/mitigation system) and the Distronic Plus Traffic Jam Assistant.

The F800 Style will be present at Mercedes' booth in Geneva, were autoevolution will be present. Stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
