While Mercedes-AMG offers four distinct flavors of 2-liter monster, the A 45 AMG is the most targeted in the tuning word because it offers the most impressive results. It's the lightest, most dynamic and compact model, not to mention an interesting design.
But what Mercedes calls "the most powerful production 2-liter turbo engine in the world" might not be enough for some, and today we bring you a special project from a German company called VÄTH Automobiltechnik GmbH. They specialize in the three-pointed star and knew just what to do when the baby AMG turned up on their doorstep.
Starting with the boost in power, custom exhaust and engine tuning resulted in an increase in output from 360 PS to 425 PS. What's more, torque is also up to 515 Nm, which is what you'd expect from a big V6 engine or even a mild V8. The core of this mod is a bespoke exhaust system named 45 EVO with 200 cells and VA-stainless steel 90mm valve-enabled end pipes.
Ensuring this hot hatch can cope with the same power output as a BMW M3, the VATH Mercedes A45 AMG also gets a few chassis upgrades in the form of adjustable lowering coilover suspension and massive 20-inch VATH wheels. As for downforce, Mercedes-Benz's own optional carbon fiber spoiler set takes care.
